Thirty-five year-old Police officer who resigned to contest the Primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) in Okere emerged winner on Saturday.

ex-detective Corporal John Evans Ayerakwa-Kumordzi eventually went unopposed on the day of the election after his two challengers stepped down. He was therefore elected by acclamation supported overwhelmingly.

John Evans Ayarekwa-Kumordzi thanked the delegates in his victory speech and called for unity that will provide the needed momentum for the party to recapture the Okere Seat from the New Patriotic Party(NPP).

According to him, it is time the incumbent Member of Parliament for Okere, Dan Kwaku Botwe is changed having been MP since 2008  for a youth with fresh ideas to take over.

The 35-year-old Ex-Police officer with the Akropong District Command resigned from the Ghana Police Service and picked nomination form to contest the Parliamentary Primaries .

He told Starr News he tendered in his resignation letter to the then IGP David Asante-Apeatu, in accordance with the Police Service Act in February giving him the impetus to pursue his political ambition of serving his people in the Okere constituency.

“I have been in the Police Service for eleven years. I joined the Police service in 2008 but i resigned in February this year. Right after the Police Academy I was posted into my constituency so I have worked here for 11 good years. I have been with the people for the past 11 years because I was a Detective. So I have been with the people for a very long time and I know their challenges, so I think this is the right time for me to lead the constituency to help them have better living condition,” he told Starr News.

OFOASE – AYIREBI

1.Joshua Asumeng Badu pulled 265 votes

2. Rev. Alfred Osei- Poku ,a Philanthropist won with 423 votes.

ACHIASE

1. Dr. Akyem Appiah Kubi ,a former Regional Minister went unopposed.

OKERE

1. Evans Ayerakwa Kumordzi ,Ex-Police Detective went Unopposed.

ABURI

1. Winston Kwadwo Afari Gyan ,a former DCE also went unopposed.

NEW JUABENG SOUTH

1. Dr. Martin Otu Offei ,a Lecturer at Koforidua Technical University went unopposed.
