A former Black Stars coach Emmanuel Kwesi (EK) Afranie has passed on.

Family sources said an ambulance conveying him to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi was involved in an accident, leading to his death.

The body has since been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital, the source told Starr Sports.

He was earlier admitted at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after suffering a mild stroke. He qualified the Black Starlets to the World Cup in 1991 and 1997.

He handled the Black Queens when the team made it to the World Cup in 1999.
