Fire has razed down about 200 wooden structures at Asawase in the Ashanti region.

The incident has rendered about 400 head porters, popularly known as Kayayei,  and scrape dealers  who reside there homeless.

It is unclear what sparked the Thursday night fire which started around 7pm when the residents were still plying their trade in town.

No casualty has yet been recorded.

The fire comes on the back of a gas station explosion near trade fair in Accra which claimed 6 lives Thursday.
