President Nana Akufo-Addo has named the Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom Shirley Ayorkor Botchway as Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs.

The 53-year-old lawmaker occupied that position in a deputy capacity during the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

She holds an MA (Public Communication) University of Westminster in 2002. She also has an MBA (Project Management) from the University of Ghana in 2004. Mrs. Botchway is married with two kids and a Christian.

Nana Akufo-Addo made the announcement Monday, January 09, 2017 at the Golden Jubilee House when he met a Chinese delegation which had attended his investiture on Saturday.

The delegation was representing the Chinese President. According to the emissaries, the Chinese president looks forward to strengthen the already “solid relationship” between Ghana and China.

Nana Addo said he will do all within his powers to foster the existing relationship.
