President Nana Akufo-Addo continues to create new ministerial portfolios with the introduction of the Ministry of Inner City and Zongo development.

Announcing his third batch of ministerial designations Thursday at the Jubilee House, Akufo-Addo nominated Boniface Abubakar Saddique, the Member of Parliament for Madina to head that portfolio.

Mr. Saddique, the president explained will help transform the country’s inner cities.

He also picked the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Marble Communications Group, Publishers of the Finder Group of Newspapers, Ibrahim Awal Mohammed as Minister-designate for Business development.

Again, he chose Prof. Gyan Baffour as his planning Minister.

These three portfolios are part of the six newly introduced  ministerial designations.

The rest are Monitoring and Evaluation, Regional Re-organisation and Special projects and Special Development Initiatives to be headed by Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei; Dan Botwe and Hawa Koomson.

Explaining the rationale behind the introduction of these designations, Akufo-Addo said they are the portfolios with specific task and will be part of the office of the presidency.

He disclosed that next week, he will call another press conference to announce those who will be regional ministers.

“I’m hopeful that the caliber of people who we have put before the House is such that parliament will not have any difficulty approving my nominees,” he said.

“I’m not anticipating that there should be any long winded process…these are…many of them are already well known figures in our national life, they are men of integrity, women of integrity, they have passed several test of public scrutiny,” he added.

He thus stated that he is expecting that the House will act “expeditiously so that I can have a government” and begin delivering on the promises he made to the Ghanaian populace.

According to him, the Ghanaian economy is in difficulty and it is therefore the time for “all of us to put our shoulders to the wheel and work hard” to bring relief to the Ghanaian.
