Eight passengers have died in a gory accident that occurred along the Akosombo to Kpone road in the Eastern region. Several others have been injured and hospitalized.

Three persons died on the spot while five others later died in the hospital. The death toll is likely to increase due to the magnitude of injuries suffered by some of the passengers.

Starr News has gathered that, the accident which occurred Wednesday evening involved a Hyundai Mini Bus with registration number GW 7792-12 moving from Kpone to Akosombo and a Benz Bus with registration number GR 9053- A from the opposite direction.

It is, however, not clear what led to the head on collision at Bolekope.

Confirming the accident to Starr News, the Akuse District Police Commander, ASP Francis Ackah explained that three persons including the Hyundai Mini Bus driver died on the spot.

He added that two later died at the VRA hospital while three died on Thursday.

According to the District commander, the remains of the deceased have been deposited at Akuse and VRA hospitals.

He said Police has launched investigation into the accident.
