About 300 squatters at Frafra Zongo in Suame Magazine in the Kumasi metropolis have been rendered homeless as a result of a fire outbreak Wednesday.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but victims suspect an electrical fault.
The fire which started after midday destroyed over 100 wooden structures housing frafra tribe settlers in the area, despite fire fighters’ swift response to the incident.
The Substation officer, Ishmael Ofori, told Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako Justice that lack of access route to the fire scene was one of the major challenges they encountered.
The artisans there are however urging government to bring back the fire station which was relocated from the area to Breman.
