President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has eulogized the former President John Dramani Mahama saying he steered the ship with conviction.
According to President Akufo-Addo, Mr. Mahama would be remnembered for his gracefulness and the manner he accepted the 2016 presidential elections which he lost by over a million votes.
Delivering his inaugural speech after he was sworn-in as the 5th President of the 4th Republic Of Ghana, at the Black Stars Square Saturday, President Akufo-Addo said “Mahama has contributed to the democratic consolidation of Ghana.”
The President also called on Ghanaians to be united and assured that he will do his best to make “Ghana the place where dreams come true.”
He added that “after 60 years of nationhood we have no longer have an excuse to be poor,” assuring Ghanaians will experience prosperity under his leadership.
Background of Akufo-Addo
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a legal luminary, politician and a businessman. He won the 2016 polls after trying for the third time. He contested and lost in 2008 and 2012.
Nana Addo was elected three times between 1996 and 2008 as Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South constituency in the Eastern region of Ghana.
He served his nation from 2001 to 2007 as Cabinet Minister, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, and later as Foreign Minister during the government led by President John Agyekum Kufuor.
