President Nana Akufo-Addo has directed the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Cocoa Board Dr. Stephen Opuni to vacate his post.

A letter dated January 12, 2017 from the Executive Secretary to the President Nana Asante Bediatuo gave the COCOBOD boss 5pm Friday, January 13, 2017 to leave office.

He has been directed to handover office property by the stipulated time.

According to the letter, “Pursuant to section 14 (1) of the Presidential (Transition) Act 2012, (Act 845) and paragraph 6 of schedule thereto, you ceased to hold office as Chief Executive Officer  of the Ghana Cocoa Board upon assumption of office of his Excellency the president of the Republic.”

Until his appointment in 2013, Dr Opuni was the Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA). He has been asked to handover to the President’s representative at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto.

Meanwhile, all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief executives have been asked to handover to their coordinators.
