Some New Patriotic Party youth in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira constituency in the Western region seized the official vehicle of the Municipal Chief Executive, James Atta Kakra Baidoo.
According to the spokesperson of the aggrieved youth Emmanuel Freeman, they took the law into their hands after observing that an unqualified driver who is an electrician has been driving the vehicle and crashed it.
This, he said, infuriated them to take “the unlawful action”.
Speaking on Morning Starr on Tuesday, Starr News’ Western regional correspondent Emmanuel Ohene Gyan said the police intervened and the vehicle has since been returned to the MCE.
Similar skirmishes were registered in some parts of Ghana.
Some individuals, believed to be members of the NPP stormed the Tema Harbour on Monday, demanding to be given control of some key installations of the facility.
The errant supporters are demanding that all national security operatives manning the Golden Jubilee terminal, Reefer and Atlas yards be withdrawn for them to take over.
Starr News sources at the port say the supporters have been hanging around the place since Saturday, when Nana Akufo-Addo was installed as president of the Republic.
The Tema Police command has restored law and order.
The situation was not different in Tamale where party supporters locked up some offices of the Youth Enterprise Agency as well as in Accra at the Nkrumah Flats.
