The Mental Health Authority has raised an alert over drinks and bottled pepper stew popularly called ‘Shito’ laced with narcotic substances such as indian hemp or ‘wee’ and being sold to the unsuspecting public.

These drinks according to the authority, are found in drinking bars while the prevalence of this narcotic ‘shito’ is usually sold to students of Senior High Schools.

According to the medics, this act is being perpetrated by cartels using unconventional ways to get people hooked on to narcotic substances to make more money.

The Upper West regional director of health, Dr. Winfred Ofosu warned the public against resorting to these substances to release stress.

Dr. Ofosu has also advised that society begins rebuilding family bonds to offer emotional support for relatives going through stress which is currently on the rise.
