The Producer Price Inflation (PPI) for the month of January has dropped marginally from 4.8 to 3.1 percent, the Ghana Statistical Service has announced.

The rate is 1.7 percentage point lower than the rate recorded in December.

PPI measures the average change over time in the prices received by domestic producers for the production of their goods and services.  Government Statistician Baah Wadieh said the mining and quarrying sub sector recorded the highest.

“Mining and quarrying inflation stood at 18.6 percent in January compared with 15.6 percent in December. Manufacturing was 2.4 percent in January as compared to 5.4 percent a month before while utilities were 6.8 percent as against 7.0 percent in December”.
