Supporters of the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party on Thursday clashed over the management of a lorry station at Aboabo in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.

Starr News understands that the NPP Supporters had earlier driven away some persons managing the lorry station believed to be NDC supporters.

But the purported NDC supporters later re-organized themselves and clashed with the NPP supporters in an attempt to take control of the station.

More than eight persons are reported to have sustained various degrees of injuries.

The timely intervention of the police prevented the clashes from escalating. According to reports the Police also retrieved a sack containing weapons.

Some of the alleged NDC supporters who spoke to Starr News after the clashes said the NPP supporters wielding weapons stormed the lorry station claiming it was time for them to take over the management of the place because their government was in power.

The clashes in Aboabo come weeks after similar clashes in various parts of the country where NPP supporters have attempted to take over the management of several public facilities.
