The Ga Dangbe Youth has kicked against the decision by President Akufo-Addo to transform the Osu Castle into a museum for past presidents, describing it as useless.

The president on Sunday March 5, 2017 commissioned the former seat of government, the Christianborg Castle as part of “legacy projects” identified by government to mark the Ghana at 60 celebrations.

The project when completed is expected to transform the entire Castle into an Exhibition hall that will project Ghana’s statesmen, particularly Heads of State.

But the Ga Dangbe Youth are unhappy with the move, describing it as unnecessary.

“We don’t even need a presidential museum. For me I don’t think we need a presidential museum because you can’t compare slavery to a presidential museum in the Christianborg Castle,” Nii Maama Marquaye, a leading member of the group told Bernard Nasara Saibu Tuesday March 7, 2017 on Starr Today.

He said those advising the president to convert the Christianborg Castle into presidential museum lack understanding and appreciation of the country’s history.

“Like I said,” stated Marquaye, “if they have to do anything as the presidential museum, they should look at somewhere…because at least what are we going to exhibit about our presidents. If you take Nkrumah out, the rest of the presidents what have they done so much that we have to build a museum for them.”
