FIFA will stump up Seamus Coleman’s wages whilst he recovers from his injury hell.
The Ireland right-back is sidelined for at least six months after suffering a double leg break following a challenge by Neil Taylor in their 0-0 draw with Wales on Friday.
The Everton star had successful surgery on Saturday and now faces a painful rehabilitation to get back to full fitness.
And Fifa’s club protection programme means they will pay the player’s wages, thought to be around £50,000-a-week, until he fully recovers.
Everton have been keeping in close contract with doctors in Dublin and sent their own physiotherapist to check on his progress.
He said: “He had the operation yesterday [Saturday] morning at 8:30am, that was successful.
“He has realized everything that has happened and is obviously very disappointed.
