The Education Minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh says he is having sleepless nights over the planned implementation of the Free Senior High School Education policy.

The programme is scheduled for take off in September 2017 but Dr. Opoku Prempeh said he will only have proper sleep after the successful implementation of the much touted policy of the NPP.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Monday, the Manhyia North MP said “I need to ensure it is rolled out successfully.”

According to Dr. Opoku Prempeh, critics of the NPP are hoping that the policy fails but added that he is confident that the programme when implemented in September will be a success.

President Akufo-Addo recently stated at a programme at the Okuapeman Senior High School in Akropong that “by free SHS, we mean that in addition to tuition, which is already free, there will be no admission fees, no library fees, no science centre fees, no computer laboratory fees, no examination fees, no utility fees.

“There will be free textbooks, free boarding and free meals and day students will get a meal at school for free…Free SHS will also cover agricultural, vocational and technical institutions at the high school level.”
