Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNet) has presented a cheque of GHC 250,000.00 to the National Planning Committee of the Ghana 60 Years On towards the 2017 independence celebrations.

Making the donation on behalf of GCNet, Strategy and Communications Manager, Mrs Aba Lokko explained the gesture was the company’s contribution towards the celebration of the year-long activities lined up to commemorate Ghana’s independence as a nation.

Mrs Lokko noted that GCNet has been a model Public Private Partnership in Ghana for 15 years deploying innovative e-Solutions in partnership with GRA, facilitating trade development, revenue mobilization business registration and business intelligence reporting.

“Our partnership with GRA has seen improvements in revenue collection year on year, business competitiveness in the ease of doing business in the country which has reflected in improvement in Ghana’s ranking in the 2016 World Bank Doing Business Index, 1st in West Africa and among top 10 in Sub-Saharan Africa among others,” Mrs Lokko stated.

GCNet’s partnership with GRA has resulted in year on year increase in revenue mobilisation since the deployment of the Customs Trade Net Single Window – Ghana Customs Management Systems (GCMS), e-MDA portal, the Ghana Integrated Cargo and Clearance Systems (GICCS) and the Total Revenue Integrated Processing Systems (TRIPS) and other platforms.

She stated that the Customs Trade Net Single Window integrates all players in the trade community adding that in a day more than 5000 industry players connect to this portal including regulators, freight forwarders, shipping lines, OMCs and MDAs among others.

“We renew our pledge to continuously support Government in partnering the GRA to deliver on its mandate by deploying innovative e-solutions to facilitate trade, improve business competitiveness processes and enhance revenue mobilization in Ghana for accelerated development,” Mrs Lokko said.

Receiving the cheque, Chairman of the Events Sub Committee and Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mr. Lord Commey lauded the noble gesture. Mr. Commey also commended GCNet as the second highest donor so far demonstrating its patriotic spirit on the day of the presentation, which coincided with the launch of the draping institutions in national colours.

President Nana Akufo—Addo in launching the National Planning Committee on January 26, 2017 had appealed to Corporate Ghana to support in raising the estimated GHC 20million for the year-long activities lined for the celebration of Ghana 60 years on.
