Telecom giant, MTN Ghana says it is happy about the high patronage its Apps Challenge projects have received.

MTN has partnered with industry experts to commercialize all viable Apps Challenge projects through a strategic initiative called Katapult.

Some of these apps recording impressive downloads include Oware 3D, Buzz Trick and Wheelo.

The network on Tuesday presented 20 laptops and other prizes to its gold winners of the MTN Apps Challenge for the northern sector.

The winners who are students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology developed innovative digital applications in the Monuments and Telekare area.

“We pay attribute to our previous winners and their innovations. We would like to encourage our developers to continue to come out with innovative and user-friendly apps that will satisfy the needs of our users”, General Manager of the MTN, Northern Zone, James Bukari Basintale told Ultimate Business.

“On our part as MTN, we will continue to make investments in line with the ongoing technological transformation. The end of the Apps Challenge should not be the end of your efforts in this direction”, he added.

MTN launched the MTN Apps Challenge Version 4.0 in 2013 to nurture the ideas of local developers who build locally relevant mobile applications to solve societal problems.

On his part, Vice Chancellor of KNUST, Professor Obiri Danso, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the investment made in developing technological transformation.
