Caterers under the School Feeding Programme have rejected a month deadline for the payment of their allowances.
Scores of caterers on Monday, May 15 besieged the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection to demand payment of their arrears for over four months.
The Secretariat has asked the caterers to resume work whilst it pays their allowances at the end of the month. But Spokesperson for the caterers Maame Yaa Duoduo told Starr News they will not resume work until their monies are paid.
“Anytime we take any action, they just come to promise us that give us one week, one month,” she stated.
“The school feeding issue is a very serious issue, you spend on gas, water, pay workers, and transport food to the school. It is not something that maybe you can do and say that what I’m doing is monthly so if they don’t pay you for a month then they put you in a fix,” Duoduo noted.
