Ghanaian 800m runner Alex Amankwah says he is working hard to win Ghana’s first gold medal at the upcoming World Athletics Championship in London.
The Middle distance runner is one of four Ghanaians who have qualified for the Championship slated for London in August.
“When it comes to track, I train hard, I work hard and I want to win. I don’t go out there to come second or third, I want to go out there and win”, Alex said.
“But I also do understand that there is a process and it takes time for these things to happen and I can only control the efforts that I bring in and my preparation, so am going to prepare the best [way] I can and I will go out there and leave whatever I have on the track,” he added.
Ghana boast of two medals, in the history of the competition. But Amankwah insists he is working hard to redeem his Olympics disappointment.
