Teaching and learning activities at the Brodekwano District Assembly Basic School will witness a major boost henceforth, with the donation of educational materials from telecom giant, MTN.

Aside the donation of books ranging from dictionaries, Science, Math, Social Studies and English subjects, MTN also organized reading clinics on Friday, for the school which has a population of over 400 pupils.

The gesture by MTN Ghana forms part of its annual 21 Days of Y’ello Care events with the sturdy focus of “Investing in Education for All” in the last five years.

Instituted a decade ago, the 21 Days of Y’elloCare has become an annual period where MTN staff across the country, volunteer to impact in their communities.

General Manager of MTN Northern Ghana, James Bukari Basintale told Ultimate Business that MTN continues to see education as one of the key areas, that they should invest in.

“For Y’ello Care in the past 5 years, we have continued to stress and support education for all because we still believe that education is important.

“We believe that beginning with the younger ones, we can inculcate in them good learning skills and so we have done this learning and reading skills programme for this school”.

The MTN Northern Zone Boss further mentioned: “In some of the schools, we are enhancing their computer skills because according to a UNESCO research, people with computer skills are able to learn faster because they can easily access knowledge from across the entire globe at the click of a button.”

“We are donating computers and also teaching them how to use them. In other schools we are providing digitized teaching aids for the teachers so that it will enhance their process of teaching and learning for the children”, Bukari Basintale stated.

On their part, the traditional leadership of Brodekwano community in the Bosomtwe District in the Ashanti Region and Headmaster of the school, Seidu Issah, were grateful to MTN for the kind gesture and assured that they will make good use of the donation.
