The head coach of Ghana’s National Boxing Team Ofori Asare has said the sport is experiencing a downward turn as a result of substandard managers.
The underwhelming performance of today’s Ghanaian boxers is fast washing off the hard earned reputation made by some legends of this land, a situation Asare puts at the doorstep of managers.
“We are having too many half-baked boxing managers, they may be doing their best but I believe they don’t possess the requisite know-how to enable them manage our local boxers in the right manner,” he interjected.
“To be able get to the level of Azuma, D.K. Poison and Co, we should not think about only the boxers.
“We should consider channeling resources in training the managers, the match makers and all those who rally around the main actor, which is the boxer,” Asare told Starr Sports.
The Black Bombers Coach was convinced that Ghana can make waves on the world map of boxing again if the right things are put in place.
