Traditional authorities in Manso Adubia have declared war against miners in Manso and other adjoining communities in the Amansie West district of the Ashanti region.

The traditional authorities accuse the miners of raping their lands of all its minerals without any commensurate contribution to the development of the area.

Addressing his people, the Gyaasehene of Adubia, Nana Adusei Kwadampem II lamented that all efforts to get the mining companies to help the community fix their deplorable roads and provide jobs have fallen on deaf ears.

Nana Adusei warned that government should not be surprised if they confront the miners over their negligence for development in their traditional areas.

“The miners have destroyed all our roads…this town does not reflect the wealth made by miners. I have resolved that this place will not be like Obuasi, I have waged war on them and I will continue to fight them so if you hear anything don’t be surprised.

“They don’t regard us in any way and when there is any job opening our people are not even considered.

Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive of Amansie West, Williams Asante Bediako has endorsed the planned action of the chiefs.

According to him, the Chiefs have every right to demand their due from the miners.
