Government has announced plans to expand routes for the Aayalolo bus transit to ease transportation in parts of the country.
Currently, more buses procured for the program are not operating in some areas because of the unavailability of designated roads.
Deputy Minister of local Government and rural development OB Amoah who gave the promise urged Ghanaians to patronize the buses to sustain the program.
“If you see some of the buses idle, it is because their corridors are not ready and in these last quarter of the year those corridors will be completed and the buses will roll and others will be added and it also depends on the patronage if Ghanaians patronize all the buses will move throughout the routes”.
The BRT system was initiated in 2011 when former President John Mahama, then the Vice President, broke the grounds for the building of the terminals at Adabraka in Accra Central.
The idea was mooted when he visited Sweden to see how it was operated and to provide similar rapid transport system in Ghana.
