A band of 10 Small Scale Miners who were arrested for brandishing offensive weapons during a protest on Tuesday, September 12 in Kumasi will be processed for court today.

A throng of Miners in their hundreds went on the streets to enforce their demand for the freeze on small scale mining operations to be lifted.

The police arrested 10 males from the protesting group because the weapons they were wielding could endanger public security and breach the peace.

ASP Juliana Obeng, Police spokesperson in Kumasi, told Starr News but for the professionalism officers exhibited, the demonstration could have taken a turn for the worst.

“At a point in time we had some of the demonstrators put up behaviours and conduct that was just not going to harm individuals but other demonstrators who had gathered,” she noted.
