Antique barrister's wig lying on an old wooden desk

On August 7, 2015, starrfmonline.com published a story about the suspension of five lawyers by the General Legal Council. Part of the story stated that one of the lawyers, Seth Kwame Awuku was suspended over sex offence in Canada.

However, records from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on Lawyer Seth Kwame Awuku prove otherwise.

“This certifies that a search of the National Criminal Records repository maintained by the RCMP concerning the person whose fingerprints, name and date of birth appear below could not be associated to any existing Criminal Record of conviction which may be disclosed in accordance with federal laws,” the RCMP’s Director General Chief Superintendent Serge Cote stated.

We regret the error of associating the GLC suspension with the alleged sexual misconduct and render an unqualified apology to Lawyer Seth Awuku for any harm, damage or loss that has been suffered as a consequence of the report. Accordingly, we have also amended our records to reflect this truth.
