GN Bank have refused to extend their sponsorship deal for the Division one League come 2017/18 season.

The financial firm signed a three-year contract worth $2.1 with the Ghana Football Association, a deal which expired at the end of the 2016/17 season.

Many are wondering what might have triggered GN Bank’s decision not to continue the marriage with the FA.

According to the Managing Director of the bank, Issah Adams, this decision came from the Board of Directors.

“We sponsored the second tier league for three years and it over so our Board Directors have said we need not to renew it after taking stock,” Adams told Starr Sports.

The situation leaves the FA with no option than to search for a new sponsor for the League.

Meanwhile, a tentative date will be set for the commencement of the 2017/18 Division one League during the FA Congress in January next year.
