A research conducted by the Foundation of Generational Thinkers (FOGET) has found out that most websites and online portals in the country are not secured.
According to the research, websites owned by the Ministries, departments and agencies are the most vulnerable.
It however, noted that the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration (MFARI) are some of the state institutions with robust and secured websites.
In a statement issued over the weekend the president and founder of FOGET Prosper Afetsi said: “With what our research has revealed, we are sounding the alarm to all who own or operate websites to be aware that they stand a big risk of their services being disrupted and their funds stolen as they have left the doors to the heart of their operations wide open.”
Confirming a similar warning issued by the Managing Partner at Cyber Security Firm, Delta 3 International Del Aden few weeks ago Mr. Afetsi said the banking sector is also in danger of cyber attacks.
“This will definitely affect their operations negatively if they do not wake up with a sense of urgency, to have it addressed,” he cautioned.
