The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched a Match Command Centre (MCC), which will serve as the heart of information for all CAF competitions and events.
The innovation which is being implemented by former Black Stars defender Anthony Baffoe will be in use for all African competitions.
The Match Command Center is situated at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. The launch of the technology coincided with the commencement of the group phase matches of the Total CAF Champions League and the Total CAF Confederation Cup at the weekend.
The MCC will serve as a hub for the CAF Administration to liaise and exchange information with operational staff during matches such as General Coordinator, Match Commissioners, Referees, Media Officers, Marketing Officers, Security Officers etc to ensure quality and incident free broadcast of games.
The MCC will also ensure that Administrative staff and Match Officials are at the same level of information flow regarding what is happening on the ground before, during and after games.
“This is a giant step towards our quest to improve the broadcast of our games. With the match officials on the ground, it is important to have another eye that would look out for pertinent issues that the match officials may miss, and also crosscheck facts.
“Also, we can monitor the games and give feedback whilst making sure the regulations for the tournament in the areas of competitions, marketing and media are strictly followed,” CAF General Secretary Amr Fahmy said.
Personnel from the relevant CAF Departments will be on hand to monitor the games.
