Veteran broadcaster Kwame Sefa Kayi is yet to receive his house-award after emerging the 2016 GJA journalist of the year.
The famous journalist is to receive a three-bedroom apartment for emerging the best journalist at the 2016 edition of the annual awards but after one year, the promise yet to be fuilfilled by the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA).
Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Thursday, the President of the Ghana Journalist Association Roland Affail Monney said the package delayed because the association wanted the house to be constructed at the media village, which was still going through documentation process.
“Chairman General (Sefa Kayi) has not received his house, what has affected the delivery of his house is that we felt the house should be sited at the media village. The contractor once threatened to pull out because he said this question will come up and he wanted to do Sefa’s house elsewhere but we said it should be at the village to serve as inspiration to journalists. The project has started and we will have a good story to tell soon. I believe early next year he will receive his house,” Mr. Monney noted.
Receiving the award, the Peace FM Morning Show host, was praised for his deep sense in upholding journalistic standards and ethical codes on his radio show.
The 47-year-old award winner, who has more than two decades’ experience in media work, was also commended for his initiative of saving infants by mobilising public support and resources to provide incubators for hospitals and health facilities.
