Defence lawyers in the case of the Republic versus Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie and four others, are demanding full disclosure of all documents their clients handed over to investigators at the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) during the investigations into the alleged crime of causing financial loss to the State.

State Prosecutors ahead of calling their 6th witness have filed several documents to support their case and the evidence that the 6th witness is expected to give. However, lawyer for the third accused person, Samuel Cudjoe, and lawyer for the fifth accused person, Randolph Twumasi Ankrah, told the Court that some of the documents that their clients presented to investigators such as a GCB bank statement and documents covering two contracts have been omitted from the documents filed by the State. They prayed the Court to order the State to add same to the documents they have already filed because they intend to rely on them in their cross examination of the 6th witness and during their defence.

The Director of Public Prosecution, Yvonne Atakora Buabisa, assured the Court that all documents being requested for by the defence team will be fished out and filed accordingly.

Justice Eric Kyei Baffour in his ruling said since the defence team has just been served with the said documents that have been filed, they will certainly require a bit of time to peruse it and hold conference with their clients before the next court sitting.

He therefore adjourned sitting to Thursday, February 21, 2019 for hearing to resume.
