Northern regional minister Salifu Saeed

The Northern regional Minister Salifu Saeed says the devil must be blamed for the renewed conflict between Chokosis and Kokombas which has resulted in the loss of lives in Chereponi in the Northern region.

He is recommending a spiritual warfare with the devil to help stop the conflict permanently.

Several properties have been destroyed while hundreds of residents have fled their homes to avoid being caught up in the ongoing conflict.

NADMO is also facing a difficulty in accessing communities where scores of affected persons are in dire need of relief items.

But speaking to Starr News, Mr. Saeed who has oversight responsibility over the newly created North East region, said the devil has taken over Chereponi and the only way to deal with the problem is for religious leaders to pray and call upon the ancestors.

“With Chereponi, the conflict ongoing there is unfortunate…these two tribes have intermarried so for me it is the devil that has taken over the area.

“So we will get the religious leaders and other fetish priests to invoke the ancestors and also do prayers and we the security will support them so that they will forgive each other so that we live together peacefully.”

Alhaji Saeed, however, expressed shock at the latest clashes especially coming on the back of a facts finding committee’s work of which he’s a member.

The Northern Regional Minister has also assured that relief items will soon reach displaced residents of Chereponi.
