The Ghana Construction Awards event which has been rebranded to West Africa Construction Awards (WACA) is scheduled to take place on 3 May 2019 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra, InstinctWave, organisers of the awards has said.

The awards ceremony, which is in its third year, is the construction industry’s most-celebrated and distinguished award and recognises the enormous achievements of the construction industry and its contribution to the sub-Saharan African economy.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of InstinctWave, Mr Akin Naphtal, explained that: “The awards competition will raise the level of construction standards throughout the industry by recognising the hard work and workmanship of the players in the construction industry as it showcases results of excellence, commitment and professionalism across West African countries.

“Recent reports have indicated that sub-Sahara Africa will have the fastest-growing construction industry among all major regions in the world”, thus, the rebranding of the awards scheme, noted Mr Naphtal.

“Also, according to global data, the region, over the next five years, will have an average compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.6 per cent a year, from 2018 to 2022. We have rebranded the awards scheme to expand our reach to the sub-region and also showcase the excellence of the construction industry in the ecosystem.”

WACA will also bring together top industry executives and decision makers in Ghana, Nigeria, Benin and Togo to celebrate the stand-out projects and achievements of the year under review.
