Harambee Stars forward Michael Olunga

Zesco United attacker Jesse Were has been named as replacement for injured Kenyan star striker Michael Olunga ahead their clash against Ghana in the AFCON 2019 qualifier in Accra.

The highly influential striker picked up a hamstring injury during Kashiwa Reysol’s 1-0 win over Albirex Niigata, ruling him out of action for the rest of the month.

Coach Sebastian Migne opted for Zesco United striker Jesse Were as the man to fill the gap in the absence of Olunga.

Jese Were played for Zesco United in Kumasi against Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederations Cup barely a month ago and got his penalty saved by Felix Annan.

The East Africans will hit camp on March 17th in Nairobi.

Ghana’s Black Stars will host Harambee Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 23rd.
