An 85-year-old man identified as Opanyin Ibrahim Quansah has been burnt to death at his  farmland.

The incident happened at Anweaso, a farming community near Akwatia in the Denkembuor district of the Eastern Region Saturday,March 16, 2019.

Information gathered by Starr News indicate that the deceased went onto the farmland he has released to one Abdul Salem to farm without informing the caretaker ostensibly to inspect how the farm is being put in readiness for cultivation.

The deceased who couldn’t walk properly hence walked with aid of two walking sticks reportedly got to the farmland while the fire was blazing and was trapped.

The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Commander, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh when contacted told Starr News, official complaint was lodged at the Akwatia Police station, and as a result the body of the deceased has been removed and deposited at the St.Dominic Hospital Morgue for autopsy as part of investigation initiated by Police .

“Police proceeded to the scene and found the lifeless body of the deceased lying naked in supine a position with hands, legs and back partly burnt. The body was photographed and removed to St. Dominic hospital for autopsy,” he said.
