Former deputy finance minister Kweku Rickett Hagan has declared his intention to contest the Parliamentary Seat for Cape Coast South for the third time running.

The declaration is contrary to a pledge he made in the run up to the 2016 elections when he indicated that it was his last time contesting the seat hence paving way for new candidates.

Speaking in an interview with Starr News’ Central Regional Correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour, he said he was compelled to rescind his decision not to contest the seat again due to pressure from his constituents and a research finding stating that he is the best bet for the NDC retain the seat.

“The same way the NDC thought that former President John Mahama is the best candidate for us, it is the same way that my constituents feel I am the best candidate to lead Cape Coast,” he stated.

He added: “I am the one sitting on the chair and it has been brought to my attention by the research and analysis that I am the best person to win the seat. As an old soldier when the people ask me to lead them to war again, knowing that I know how to win wars, I can’t shake my head. I have to as a servant of the people head to their calls and lead them to another victory.”
