Youssef Benrhafiane

BANK OF AFRICA, Ghana has appointed two DMDs namely Youssef Benrhafiane and Fatoumata Gakou to replace the two former DMDs; Vincent Istasse and Said Adren who are now MDs for BANK OF AFRICA La Cote D’Ivoire and BMCE Bank China respectively.

A statement from the Bank revealed that Youssef is in charge of Business Development whiles Fatoumata oversees the Credit and Control departments of the Bank.

Prior to Youssef’s appointment to Ghana, he had worked in various roles within BMCE BANK OF AFRICA, Morocco and the BOA Group. He was the Deputy Managing Director of BANK OF AFRICA Tanzania, the Deputy Regional Manager in charge of Retail and Corporate at BMCE BANK OF AFRICA Morocco, Corporate Regional Manager of BMCE BANK OF AFRICA and Senior Corporate Manager in BMCE BANK OF AFRICA. Before joining the BMCE BANK OF AFRICA team, he had also worked in various capacities for ABN AMRO Bank.

Fatoumata, new DMD for Credit and Controls, on the other hand, brings to the role a wide range of experience spanning from Investment Banking, Financial Controls, Project Management to Risk Management. She was a manager at BHM in New York (USA), responsible for the design and rollout of the business strategy and commercial activities of the bank.

She managed Financial Control from July 2011 to March 2013 at Groupe BANK OF AFRICA.  She was responsible for analysing and monitoring the BOA Group’s Treasury in all its affiliates. She was promoted to Deputy Project Manager BOA TOGO, where she directly engaged with the Central Bank of Togo and other Supervisory and Regulatory bodies to finalize the administrative and organizational aspects of the opening of the bank in Togo.

Fatoumata Gakou

Up until her appointment to Ghana, she was the Deputy Managing Director for BANK OF AFRICA, Togo; a position she held since July 2016. She has over a decade experience in banking which is exclusively relevant to leading BANK OF AFRICA, Ghana in the next phase of its growth strategy.

It can be recalled that three former DMDs who served in various capacities in Ghana are all MDs in their current roles within the BMCE BANK OF AFRICA Groupe. It is believed that Ghana presents an opportunity for building capacity for future leadership roles.
