Gomoa Nyanyano Zongo Chief, Awudu Issaka Giwah I, is calling on President Akufo-Addo to invite Black Stars coach, James Kwasi Appiah over the sudden resignation of the captain of the senior national team, Asamoah Gyan.

Gyan stirred controversy by announcing his unceremonious retirement from the Black Stars with an official statement on Monday at a time Ghanaians were eagerly waiting for the announcement of a provisional squad for a training camp in Abu Dhabi on June 1.

But the overlord who once played football not to the highest level and close pal of World Cup winner Marcel Desailly believes the President must add his voice to this saga.

“We have less than two months to a major tournament as the AFCON, it going to be difficult for Ghana when such decisions are made at the last minute. Asamoah is a big player so being just part of the team without playing can even scare big teams,” he told Starr Sports

“I am just pleading with the President to call both parties so that the issue is solved amicable for every party to be satisfied, Isha Allah,” he added.

The brouhaha which followed Gyan’s retirement has compelled the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to hold on with the announcement of the provisional list until Wednesday.

It will be recalled that President Nana Akufo-Addo called Gyan and Dede to a meeting at the presidency last year in a bid to reconcile them as part of plans to win AFCON 2019 after a 37-year wait.
