The Marine, Railway and Ports department of the Ghana Police Service have arrested a twenty-one year old Emmanuel Kumi for breaking in to the private residence of Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah in the early hours of Saturday.
ACP Alhaji Seidu Iddi told Empire News his outfit received a distress call from the Minister that an unknown person has unlawfully entered his residence and was found loitering around and picking some valuables .
A team of police personnel were quickly dispatched to the minister’s Beach rRoad private residence ; within Takoradi ; and arrested the suspect.
ACP Iddi further revealed that the suspect, Emmanuel Kumi was heavily on drugs and also found some implements on him .
Some party members rushed to the minister’s residence after hearing some allegations that the suspect had gone to assassinate Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, but the police dispelled the claim stating emphatically that it was purely stealing and not the said allegation.
He said due to the heavy abuse of drugs by the suspect ; he is currently taking a nap and his statement will be taken when he wakes up; ACP Iddi add.
The minister has since left his residence to meet the Vice President, Alhaji Mahmoud Bawumia who is on a two Ramandan tour to Western and Western North Regions.
