Broadcasting pioneer and former staff of Accra-based Peace FM Maafia Konadu has died, reports say.

The veteran broadcaster is reported to have died on Wednesday in the United States of America where she has been living after her retirement.

Maafia, as she is popularly called retired in 2015 after working for about 10 years with the Despite Group. 

She started as a teacher and then went to work with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) for many years before joining private radio where she hosted the mid-morning show for several years after being invited to help start Peace FM by Osei Kwame Despite, the business magnate.
