Mr Kwame Jantuah

The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) on Friday disclosed that monies earmarked for developmental projects from Ghana’s oil funds are being diverted to pay salaries.

“Oil monies have been allocated for projects, we get to the grounds and the projects are not there,” PIAC’s Vice Chairman, Kwame Jantuah bemoaned on Morning Starr. “We are told the monies are used to pay delayed salaries and nothing is done.”

The diversion of the monies have led to the stalling and non-existence of many projects to be funded revenue from Ghana’s oil finds across the country.

It would be recalled, PIAC had cause to complain last year about the non-existent of oil funded projects in the three Northern Regions.

Dr. Manteaw said six projects were inspected in the Upper East, Upper West and Northern regions and the findings and observations were “overwhelming with fifty percent of the projects being non-existent.”
