Guinea have parted ways with Belgian manager Paul Put after crashing out of the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) following a defeat in the round of 16.

The National Elephants were eliminated from AFCON after a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of finalists Algeria.

Guinea finished third in Group B with only four points as they were drawn with Madagascar, Nigeria, and Burundi.

A draw against Madagascar and a win against 10-man Burundi were enough to qualify for the round of 16.

It’s worth mentioning that Paul Put took over Guinea in 2018 and helped Guinea qualify for AFCON.

In the 2019 AFCON qualifiers, Guinea finished top of their group with 12 points, overcoming teams including Ivory Coast, Central African Republic, and Rwanda.
