The 3rd edition of Social Media Week Accra organized by Interactive Media has been launched.

The Social Media Week campaign is a global initiative which emerged from London moving to New York and finding its way to other cities. The initiative has about 65,000 participants and 20 cities marking the week.

According to organizers, the celebration this year will be happening over a span of three days from September 25-27 where some sessions will be held at the Multi-Choice office, Silver Bird Cinemas and the Accra Mall.

In a press statement made available to Starrfm.com.gh, this year’s theme “stories” will give patrons a better chance to explore the various formats of sharing the Ghanaian narrative.

“We are all producers of content and stories, as social media has given all of us a voice; but we have to be responsible with the same level of Influence we have. The theme Stories is tag lined “With great influence come great responsibility”, we the organizers of this year’s social media week, have created educative, entertaining and informative formats for brands, the press, the arts and creative industry, influencers, digital and tech enthusiasts etc.,” the statement said.

Kofi Asante, General Manager at Interactive Media, said “we are calling on you all to come and let’s work together to establish digital usage as a formidable creative and business tool that has come to stay with us Ghanaians to be used effectively and educate and inform patrons on the use of social media in pushing the Ghanaian story.”

“Also build virtual relationships between small businesses, inspire people to use social media for social causes and present a positive Ghanaian narrative,” he said.

Ekow Thompson Executive Director, Interactive Media said “everyone has a story so we are creating conversations that will include everybody. There will be sessions for the filmmaking industry, Brands and Advertising, Masterclasses tutored by industry experts, Keynote addresses and Panel discussion from seasoned experts around the world.”

“This year, we will be introducing segments that enforces intentional networking, so you don’t have to participate and then be struggling with networking and connecting, you will definitely leave with a contact that will help in your personal development, business and that creative idea.
