Prophet Badu Kobi

The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference has charged Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi to apologise for making disparaging misogynistic comments on Asante, Fante and Ewe women.

According to the Conference, it found the statements of the Founder and Leader of the Glorious Wave Church International “divisive”.

“We would not like to repeat here the adjectives that he used for them. Nevertheless, we condemn him in no uncertain terms for saying what he said. It is our view that a pastor of a church, or anybody for that matter, should not talk the way he did. In doing so, he has shown great disrespect to women. Such statements bring division not only in the church but also in the nation,” the Conference in a communique’ Friday said after its just ended Plenary Meeting in Accra.

“Since we already live in a nation where there is so much polarization on political lines” the Conference continued “we believe that as pastors we should promote unity and peace in our churches so that they could be places where people from different political and ethnic groups would feel welcome.”

“As St. Paul says in Galatians 3:27-28, “As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus””.

“We strongly urge Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi to render an unqualified apology to all women, especially the Asante, Fante and Ewe women whom he mentioned in his unprovoked attack,” the Conference charged.
