Barcelona striker Lionel Messi is set to miss a third La Liga game in a row this weekend.

Messi did not take part in training with the rest of the teammates on Wednesday as he continues a slow recovery to fitness.

Barcelona will travel to Estadio El Sadar to face Osasuna on Saturday and their striker, who has also been rumoured to be out for one month due to a calf injury, is a major doubt.

Although RAC1 reported that Messi had relapsed from his injury, but from the medical team of the club, it is strongly denied that the Argentine suffered a new physical accident that forced him to be one month off.

Luckily for Messi and Barcelona, there’s an international break coming up after the club’s next match with Osasuna this weekend, thus the amount of games Messi will miss will be reduced by at least one should he end up being out for the next month.

Messi sat out Barcelona’s first two La Liga games of the season, where they recorded one defeat and one win.
