Kabfam Ghana limited, an electronic retail shop has renovated the Korle-Bu Hospital’s Chest Diseases Department as part of the company’s Cooperate Social Responsibility.

Speaking at the commissioning of the renovated department, the Head of Unit of the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics at the Chest Disease Department, Dr. Jane Afiyie-Mensah said the gesture was important to the department as it has been left in a deprived state for a very long time due to low investment.

She said the department is pleased with the support from the company as it had been in a dreadful need of a renovation project, adding, “what we are seeing is one of the nice things we will love to see or we dreamt about in times past. It is something that was on our hearts. We wanted to see the chest unit renovated and looking good.”

“But one thing that we are happy about is that, when we reached out to Kabfam, they didn’t hesitate to give the whole department a face lift. We are very happy and we really appreciate Kabfam for the good work they have done. Our patients are usually of the low socio-economic status. They don’t have too much money and so the Unit in itself does not generate too much money, hence the low investment,” she said.

In an interview with starrfm.com.gh Director of Corporate Communications at Kabfam Ghana Limited, Mrs. Jocelyn Antwi-Boahen explained that the move forms part of the company’s corporate responsibility as it believes that the department plays an important role in the delivery of quality healthcare to the public.

She also appealed to other private organizations to join in contributing towards the improvement of the state of the hospital in Ghana.

The company also donated a 50-inch television to the department to help it carry out health education to patients who visit the facility.
