Popular fisherman in Sekondi Charles Hagan popularly referred known as Panya has emerged as the parliamentary candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Sekondi Constituency.

Panya  was contesting with Charlotte Otuah Odoom, former Mayor for the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, and a former deputy Western Regional Minister and two times parliamentary candidate, Betty Bosomtwe Sam.

The popular Chief Fishermen pulled 244 votes to beat his opponents in a keenly contested primaries held at the Wesley Methodist School in Sekondi.

Madam Betty Bosomtwe Sam pulled 175 while Charlotte Otuah Odoom managed 163 votes
It will be recalled that there were attempts to disqualify Panya as it was allegedly reported that he struggled with English language during his vetting, an allegations which has been discounted by him and his team.

The results has send wild jubilation among his supporters. Prior to his victory, the rich fisherman has gone ahead to open accounts for all the branches in the Constituency to make the more resourceful.
