Vokacom, a wholly-owned Ghanaian Information Technology (IT) Company, has won the International Telecom Union (ITU) World Global SME Award for the best business model at ITU Telecom World 2019.

The IT Service firm designed Ghana’s Digital Property and Addressing System and collaborated with the Ghana Post Company Limited to implement it successfully.

The GhanaPostGPS app designed by Vokacom generates unique code for every property or location in the country and a national address registry embedded in the system enables individuals to validate their home and business addresses for easy direction and identification purposes.

Reacting to the honour in an interview, Michael ANDERSON International Sales Manager AsaaseGPS Limited said developing the GhanaPostGPS solution contributed to the recognition, hinting that Very soon the socio-economic impact of the AsaaseGPS product will be replicated across sub-Saharan Africa in the company’s bid to transform the economies of Africa through digital addressing.

“We are in the final stages of rolling out the same in several African Countries. Our goal is to make our Universal addressing the new standard for our continent and beyond,” Anderson said.

“We see this recognition by the International Telecommunications Union(ITU) as a great testament to the strides we are making in terms of digital inclusion on the African continent and the rest of the world. Kudos to the entire Team especially NANA Osei Afrifa for spearheading this market disruptive solution with such global relevance and social impact.

“This international recognition will go a long way to motivate us to develop more solutions that will improve lives and make the corporate mission a reality,” he said of the award.

Vokacom was established in 2004 and has nine subsidiary companies in Ghana and other African counties with over 40 staff. It offers services in the real estates, agribusiness solution, financial, high-end public addressing and telecommunication value-added services.
