Executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta region have said that Jane Mensah-led Electoral Commission (EC) is not doing enough for smooth elections in 2020.
Regional chairman of the party Henry Ametefe, noted at a press conference that “the Electoral Commission has demonstrated enough symptoms of to unpreparedness for this exercise” and the EC have ” introduce lots of distortions onto the Electoral Roll” .
He indicated that the EC has failed to recognise the Constitutional Instrument (CI) 91, a law that regulates the EC’s mandates.
“We would also like to refer you to some relevant aspects of the CI 91 which is the law regulating the Electoral Commission in the registration and exhibition of voters which they are in complete breach of,” he said.
Mr. Ametefe also accused the EC of unfair exercise in the region which he says aims at disfranchising Voltarians in the national exercise. He indicated that the Party has toured the various exhibitions centres across the region and have observed that, the exercise is going on in unconditional manner.
