The executive of Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) are set to embark on a nationwide tour to familiarised itself with it regional bodies.
The event will commence on October 31, 2019, aimed at visiting the various private schools established across the country to carry out an inspection on their academic delivery and how teachers and students are catching up with the newly introduced standard-based curriculum.
The whole exercise will begin in the Greater Accra Region and is scheduled to end on November 20, 2019, in the Central Region.
Per the outline of the exercise, the leadership of the council will again engage private academic stakeholders in a seminar in each region to share and solicit for ideas on how best to facelift the standard of private school education in the country.
The seminars will be held under a single theme; “Looking into the Future; the Perspective of Private Education in Ghana.”
Key points to be discussed as stated by the Executive Director for GNACOPS, Mr Enoch Gyetuah are; feedback on SBC implementation, private teachers licensing, pre-tertiary education regulatory bodies bill and the way forward in private education 2020 and beyond.
“The council is, therefore, calling on all private education practitioners to welcome the exercise which is geared towards addressing some pressing challenges facing private education in Ghana.
“We have received comments and ultimately bitter complains from members of the council throughout the country. They are mostly related to placement issues, SSNIT’s unnecessary and unlawful threats on our members, unapproved monies taken from our members by some people from the various partner institutions and the misinterpretation of SBC implementation to create dubious means to exploit private schools operators by same partners agencies personnel.”
“We promise to bring an end to all these unfortunate situations prevailing in private sector of education,” the Executive Director assured.
